Mary Lou Spears Bufkin, 71, a resident of the Thomas Community, passed away Sunday morning August 27, 2023 at her home. She was a member of Thomas Baptist Church. She did private sitting for many families in the surrounding communities during which time she went beyond and above caring for the individual tending to each need they faced. She became very close to her families during this time. She was known for spoiling her grandchildren and great granddaughter rotten. She made sure her family’s needs were met. She loved to talk on the phone and called her sister every day. She was always the first to call on Christmas Morning to wish all of her family a Merry Christmas.

She was also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Leslie “Bus” and Frances Creel Spears, brothers and sisters in law Willie Jay Spears, Landers and Bobbie Spears, Richard and Nell Spears, Leslie Spears, Jr. and Cindy and Will Spears, ex-husband Dennis Bufkin and other beloved family members.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Tuesday, August 29, 2023 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and after 10:00 am Wednesday. A funeral service will be at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Eddie Henson officiating. Burial will follow in the Thomas Cemetery.
