Maxine Alford Loyd, 83, a resident of Folsom passed away early Wednesday morning June 19, 2024 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. She was born on May 7, 1941. Mackie was her nickname to her family, friends and all that knew her. She was a devoted member to her church, Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Covington, who loved the Lord and her church family. Mackie, alongside her family, owned and operated Ponderosa Farm Nursery for over 40 years. They distributed plants throughout the area and also she drove a loaded truck to Houston on many occasions, which lead to some fun family memories. Mackie enjoyed shopping and going out to eat. She was always a loving, wife, mother and grandmother that cherished the time spent with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son Tommy Addison, Jr., husband James “Jim” Loyd, daughter in law Suzanne Addison, parents Walter “Buck” Alford and Beulah Davis Alford, sister Barbara Jackson, brothers Ronnie Alford, Wayne Alford, step-children Mary Reeves, Paula Sue Blackwell, brother in law Dorman Taylor, niece Monica Ard.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home (1109 Bene Street, Franklinton) on Sunday June 23rd from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Sunday with Jerry Geneste and Carl Lamprecht officiating. Burial will follow in the Fendlason Cemetery near her home in Folsom.
