Rocky Lane Watson, 71, a resident of the Springhill Community, passed away peacefully at his home Friday June 9, 2023 after a lengthy illness. He was retired after a long career as an off-shore platform director with Island Drilling and he also worked for Placid Oil Company and other companies through the years. Rocky attended Springhill Baptist Church and liked working on antique tractors. He liked watching old Western TV shows and taking care of his animals. Rocky enjoyed hunting, visiting large flea-markets and working in his yard. He loved fishing whenever he could and listening to all types of music, especially the Oldies.

Nieces and Nephews: Stacie and Brandon Starnes, Robin and B.J. Graham, Joseph Carter
Great-nephews: Caiden and Kylan Graham
Also numerous other nieces, nephews and extended family
He was preceded in death by his sons Waylon Watson, Terry Lane Watson, daughter Amanda Kay Watson, parents Doyle Watson and Ora Mae Dillon Watson, brother Randy Watson, sisters Beverly Strahan, Diane Conerly, Jo Ann Gill, father in law and mother in law Robert Carter, Sr. and Elizabeth Carter, sister in law Janet Carter, brother in law Robert Carter, Jr.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday June 14th in the Poplarhead Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Daniel Barber officiating.
