Roy Warren Calongne passed away in Franklinton, Louisiana on July 19, 2022 at the age of 67. Born in New Orleans on August 24, 1954, Roy grew up in Metairie. He was graduated from Archbishop Rummel High School in 1972 and studied Business Administration at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. In the late 1970's in Baton Rouge, Roy began a long career as a small business entrepreneur, eventually returning to Metairie where he lived until 2018. At the time of his death, Roy was a resident of Slidell.
One of Roy's greatest achievements was building a lifelong tribe of friends who shared a passion for the many celebrations in New Orleans, most especially Jazz Fest. Roy was a devoted friend and beloved ambassador of the Crescent City.
He was predeceased by his parents, Henrietta Huye and Roy Warren Calongne, as well as by a sister, Dianne Veith. He is survived by his niece and nephew, Karen and Richard Veith and his brother-in-law, Daniel Veith. He is missed by his surviving family, extended family and his tribe of friends.
Memorial contributions may be made in Roy's name to the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation. A celebration of Roy's life is being planned by his friends, who will also execute his last wish - to have his ashes sprinkled at the places he most loved.
The family was served by Crain Funeral Home of Franklinton.
