Walter Keith Payne, 58, a resident of the Thomas Community passed away Monday morning January 30, 2023 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was a 1982 graduate of Pine High School and later attended Southeastern Louisiana University.
Keith worked for Bean Dredging and later the Box Plant at the Bogalusa paper mill for 12 years. He most recently worked in marine construction for Bertucci Contracting Company. Keith enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time in the outdoors. He loved mowing his yard and doing work around the property on his tractor. Keith liked tractors and had different antique tractors through the years. He enjoyed watching old Western TV shows and movies. He was a member of Crain’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church and he adored his young grandchildren.

Grandchildren: Owen Payne, Jacob Payne, Luke Payne, Annabelle Knight, Nate Knight, Huntley Knight, Raylee “Ray Ray” Penton, Benton “Lil Red” Graves
Parents: J.W. Payne and Carolyn Rester Payne of Thomas
Brothers and Sisters in law: Ricky Payne, Stacy and Vicki Payne, Clint and Misty Payne
Niece and Nephews: Amelia and Cody Cooper, Chase Payne

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Kozzie and Lonie Payne, Frank and Dorothy Rester
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Friday February 3rd from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Friday with Eld. Doyle Ball and Rev. Travis Houston officiating. Burial will follow in the Thomas Cemetery.
