The Purple Heart is one of our nation’s most distinguished military honors, awarded to those wounded or killed in action while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.
On Monday, July 28 at 4:30 p.m., the Washington Parish Government will host a ceremony at the parish courthouse to officially proclaim Washington Parish as a Purple Heart Parish.
As part of this effort, parish officials are asking any citizens that might know of a Purple Heart recipient, both those still with us and those who have passed away, to contact Parish Government with their name. The Parish Government wants to recognize and honor each recipient during this important event.
For additional information or to list a recipient, contact Jesse Applewhite, Council Clerk at japplewhite@wpgov.org and 985.335.7717, or Danielle Folks, Administrative Assistant at dfolks@wpgov.org and 985.244.9071.
