Southeastern Louisiana University celebrated its 1,106 graduates Saturday, May 17, in two separate commencement ceremonies in the University Center.
Southeastern graduates included 364 men and 742 women, who were receiving 18 different degrees and representing 15 states and 26 countries. Candidates for associate, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees were honored.
The university awarded its highest academic honor, the President’s Medal for Academic Excellence, to 14 students with the highest cumulative grade point average in the university’s five colleges.
Medal recipients were:
College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences – psychology major Alexandria Paige Dillon of Mandeville; criminal justice major Mia Isabella Martin of Mandeville; general studies major Connor C. Smith of Covington; psychology major Taylor Alyse Sowerwine and English major Deryn Britanya Wilson, both of Slidell.
College of Business – marketing major Brice Matthew Landry of Baton Rouge.
College of Education – early childhood education major Madison Leigh Provensal of Kenner.
College of Nursing and Health Sciences – social work major Mychal Tymberli Bennett of Shreveport; communication sciences and disorders majors Hannah Danielle Harris of Holden and Sophia Nicole Foto of Covington; and kinesiology major Karalyn Victoria Moragne of Mandeville.
College of Science and Technology – biological sciences major Amanda Baltar dos Santos of Brazil; biological sciences major James Joseph Guillot, Jr. of Kenner; and mathematics major Erin Michelle Hicks of Luling.
