Game of the Week - Pine (2-0) at Franklinton (1-1) These teams resumed their series last season in a big way. The game was extremely exciting and went into overtime with Franklinton winning after they elected to go for the two point conversion and the win. Even in a loss the Raiders played one of their best games of the season likely inspired by their opponent and the in parish rivalry between the two schools.
Both teams are well coached but neither team is currently at the level they were at the end of their respective seasons of 2024. Both teams have weaknesses that the other fully plans to exploit this Friday. The winner will likely be the team who can run the ball best.
Get there early and prepare for another game for the books.
Should be a good one.
Notes and quotes
"We played extremely hard for 48 minutes. We have played excellent competition and have showed that we can be a very good team. We have to continue to get better and realize that this team has a tremendous opportunity to play a long and successful season."
---Nick Saltaformaggio, Franklinton head coach.
"We are playing very good defensively right now. Caydn Stogner played great at outside linebacker. He had 13 tackles, 2 sacks and a safety. Offensively we played well. We ran the ball for 9.2 yards a carry. We hit two big plays in the passing game. But we are not taking care of the football like we should. We had 3 turnovers in the Redzone. Delvonta Gardner had a great game. 66 receiving yards, an interception, a kickoff for a td, and another return inside the 10 yard line. He is also playing very physical at defensive back. I'm very proud of him."
---Bradley Seal, Pine head coach.
"Super proud of the team! They gave everything they had and battled for 4 quarters against another solid 5A opponent. These guys are getting better and show no quit! We gotta keep being positive, working and good is going to come to soon with this group. Proud of them!"
---Dean King, Bowling Green head coach.
"We are playing the number 1 team in the state that are the defending 8 man national champs. So, we have a really big challenge for next week but also a great opportunity."
--- Destin Pittman, Bens Ford head coach
"It's a tough loss to a really good program, we are in a rebuild stage, so our focus is getting better day by day, game by game. The scoreboard can be tricky it's not a direct depiction of improvement. We are improving and as a rebuilding program that's all you look for!"
---Vonta Owens, Varnado head coach
