#12 seeded Pine swept #21 seeded Lakeside in the first round of the state Division III non-select baseball playoffs, and now the Raiders are headed for the Regional round, while Lakeside went home to Sibley, a small town in Northwest Louisiana located 30 miles east of Shreveport.
Pine will take on #5 Erath this week at the Erath baseball field.
The best of 3 Regional series is scheduled for Thursday (Game 1), Friday (Game 2), and if needed, Saturday (Game 3).
At Pine High School last Thursday and Friday, the Raiders won Game 1 vs Lakeside 4-2, and won Game 2 with a 5-1 score, making a third game unnecessary.
In Game 1, Lakeside had only four hits against Pine pitcher Griff McCormick.
In Game 2, Pine got another strong pitching effort, with Levi White allowing only four hits while striking out three and with no walks.
With the 2 first round playoff wins, Pine upped its 2026 record to 18-12.
Fans traveling to Erath for the Regional games need to allow about 3 hours for the drive. Erath is located in Southwest Louisiana, due south of Lafayette.
As a side note, the Erath High School baseball field is named in memory of Ross Granger, a multiple sport athlete at Erath High who went on to play baseball at LSU-Eunice. Sadly, his LSU-Eunice baseball career was interrupted by brain cancer, which eventually took his life.
•Results of Pine’s Regional games vs Erath will be on era-leader.com and will also be in next week’s printed edition of The Era-Leader.
