Pine High School is excited to celebrate Homecoming Week from Monday, September 29th through Friday, October 3rd. Students, staff, families, and community members are invited to join in on the fun-filled week of activities, spirited dress-up days, and Raider pride.
On Thursday, October 2nd, Pine will host its annual community parade and pep rally. The parade will begin at 5:30 p.m., with the pep rally to follow. This year’s Grand Marshal is Mr. Steve Knight, who will help lead the festivities. We would also like to extend a special invitation to Pine High School alumni who graduated in a year ending in 5—including 2025, 2015, 2005, 1995, 1985, etc.—to come and be celebrated as part of our Homecoming tradition. Alumni will also enjoy a display of treasured Pine High School memorabilia at the Homecoming Game the following night.
On Friday, October 3rd, the spotlight will shine on tradition and celebration with the Homecoming Court Presentation at 5:30 p.m., followed by the Homecoming football game at 7:00 p.m. against the Varnado Wildcats. The evening will include the crowning of the 2025 Homecoming Queen. Fans won’t want to miss the Raiders’ highly anticipated halftime performance, where they will present their annual show—this year’s theme is Louisiana. This special show will feature performances by the High School Cheer Team, Raiderettes, Drama Club, Junior High Cheer, Dazzlers, and the Junior High Color Guard.
The week of celebration will conclude with the Homecoming Dance on Saturday, October 4, open to all Pine High School students.
Homecoming Week promises to be a memorable celebration of school spirit, community pride, and Raider tradition. Steve Knight will be the Grand Marshal of the Pine High School Homecoming.
During his 22 years as principal at Thomas, Steve Knight guided the school through its transition from a junior high to what is now Thomas Elementary School.
In 2021, he accepted a position with the Washington Parish School Board Office as Maintenance and Transportation Supervisor, where he served until his retirement in 2024.
Steve is married to his wife, Caron, and together they have three grown children: Blake Knight and his wife Crystal, Krissy Knight Haga and her husband Warren, and Kelly Knight Stubbs and her husband Anthony. They are also the proud grandparents of six: Ethan Knight and his wife Korinn, David Haga, Madelyn Stubbs, Andrew Haga, Daniel Haga, and Will Stubbs.
Reflecting on his 38-year career in Washington Parish, Steve said he feels both fortunate and blessed to have worked alongside so many students, parents, teachers, and staff throughout the community. A 1973 graduate of Pine High School, he fondly remembers playing football for the then Pine Rebels. After earning his degree in Education from Southeastern Louisiana University, he began his career with South Central Bell.
A few years later, Steve found his way back to the classroom, teaching in Iberville Parish before returning home to Washington Parish to teach at Franklinton Junior High School, where he also served as an assistant football coach. In 1991, he returned to Pine to teach and coach once more. By 1995, he became head football coach, leading the team through four memorable seasons that included a thrilling win over Franklinton High School in 1996 and a playoff matchup against Eli Manning and the Newman Greenies in 1997.
Steve went on to earn his Master’s Degree from William Carey University, and in 1999, he was named principal of Thomas Junior High School.
“It is truly an honor and a privilege to be chosen as the Grand Marshal of the 2025 Pine High School Homecoming,” Steve shared. “As always, Go Raiders!”
