Pine jumped out to a 14-0 lead over unbeaten Jewel Sumner in last week’s action, and it looked like an upset was in the making.
But then Sumner adjusted and it was obvious why they are unbeaten and ranked as the #1 3A team in the state, as the Cowboys scored 41 unanswered points to take a 41-14 win over Pine.
Despite the loss, Pine played some strong football in portions of the game, and they still look good for a first round playoff home game if they win their next two games, which is doable.
With the loss Pine moves to 5-3 on the season. The Raiders will face Bogalusa this week in an away game at Bogalusa. Fans need to note that the Pine-Bogalusa game will be played Thursday evening, October 30, and not Friday.
