Washington Parish Registrar of Voters Randy Strickland has been named the 2026 Washington Parish Fair Honoree.
He is a lifelong resident of Washington Parish. A graduate of Bogalusa High School, he also attended Pearl River Community College and Southeastern Louisiana University.
Randy Strickland has been a fair volunteer for 45 years, beginning his service on the Stage Committee. He would go on to volunteer at the stage for 14 years and was Chairman the final four years.
He was also the Chairman of the New Stage Committee, and this utilized his leadership abilities when the current fair stage was being constructed.
Randy served as Vice President and then President of the Fair Executive Board. He has served on the Commercial Building Committee for 27 years and was chairman for 25 years. He was also a Ward 4 Fair Board Member for 12 years. He has served on the Nominating Committee four times and was Chairman of this committee twice. He currently serves as a Ward 7 Board Member, Chairman of the Traffic Committee, and Co-Chairman of Concessions.
When asked what he likes most about the fair, he notes that it is a reunion of family and friends. “There are some people you only see once a year at the fair,” he said.
Randy’s fondest fair memories involves camping at the fair with his children and taking them on the kiddie rides at the Midway.
He has two children, Victoria and Thomas Strickland and one granddaughter, Landry Strickland, and he is a resident of the Stateline Community. Randy rarely misses the monthly fair committee meetings and can be depended on to offer wise counsel or at least to break the tension with a well-placed story or joke.
