BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Police have arrested and charged a man with murder in connection with a slaying that took place more than seven years ago, news outlets reported Wednesday.
Tolley Ray Milton, 37, was arrested Monday on second-degree murder charges in the death of 36-year-old Cornell Cummings in November 2014, WAFB-TV reported.
Cummings was shot twice in the chest just before midnight on Sept. 23, 2014, in Baton Rouge. He died two months later.
Two years after his death, Baton Rouge police charged Deandre Anthony, then 19, with second-degree murder, saying he was one of two people who shot Cummings. The 19th Judicial District Parish of East Baton Rouge issued an arrest warrant for Milton in 2018. The charges against Anthony have since been dropped, WBRZ-TV reported.
Milton was charged based on evidence at the scene and after a witness identified him in a photographic lineup, WAFB reported, citing the arrest warrant.
Milton was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. His bond was set at $1 million.
