Mrs. Ruby Nadean King, 71, of Galax, VA passed away on September 1, 2025 at her home. She was born on March 9, 1954 to the late James Ancil Penton and Wessie Taylor. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two daughters, Kimberly Hobgood Dahlby and Tracy Hobgood, two sisters, Mildred Penton and Cathlene Penton, and a brother, Johnny Penton.
Nadean was an avid gardener, soft hearted, and loved her critters. She could never tell her family no, she felt like that was up to James. She also loved to paint concrete figurines.
She is survived by her husband, James King of the home, a son, James Windell Thompson Jr. of Wytheville, VA, daughters, Crystal Thompson Weber of Statesville, NC, and Ashley Sykes Clover of Canton, NY, stepson, Robert King of Willoughby, OH, sisters, Louise Brooks of Pine, LA, Peggy Fisher of Franklinton, LA, and Faye Adams of Franklinton, LA. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 14 great grand children, and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025 at High Country Services beginning at 3:00pm
