This release came from the Franklinton Police Department on Tuesday of this week :
"We had an interesting conversation today. The Franklinton Police Department actually received a phone call from none other than --- wait....the Franklinton Police Department.
The caller, who identified himself as Chief Justin Brown had the privilege of speaking with, you guessed it, Chief Justin Brown.
So here's the scam. You'll receive a phone call which originates from the Franklinton Police Department or at least the telephone number. The caller will identify themselves as Chief Justin Brown but the accent doesn't seem quite correct. They'll request information, make threats and other scam gathering tactics.
Here's what you do: Hang up.
The Chief will not call you from the department number and he most certainly will not call requesting your personal information and/or make threats of arrest if you don't pay a certain amount of money.
If you do receive such a call and you aren't particularly sure if its legitimate, hang up and call the department back."
