Following his indictment last week by a Washington Parish Grand Jury, the man charged with the murder of Donna Arceneaux in 2017 is now out of jail.
Scott Jordan bonded out of the Washington Parish Jail Tuesday (January 20) at 8:58 p.m.
Earlier Tuesday he pleaded “not guilty” to second-degree murder charges.
His $2 million bail was then reduced to $500,000. He or his family either put up a property bond worth the entire $500,00; or he bailed out through a bail bond company for 12% to 14% of the bail amount, which would be from $60,000 to $70,000. He is now out of jail.
Also on Tuesday, following his plea of “not guilty”, a trial date of April 6 was set.
Jordan was arrested on December 23, 2025, following a renewed and intensive investigation led by the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office.
After his arrest he was arraigned and his initial bond was set at $2 million.
Then last week he was indicted on second-degree murder charges. An indictment means that the 12 citizens serving on the Grand Jury considered the evidence and concluded that Jordan should be tried. It does not indicate either guilt or innocence --- that will be determined by a jury at the trial.
The April 6 trial date is not 100% definite because it is not unusual for continuances to be granted.
