Southeastern Louisiana University’s Chamber Orchestra will present its spring concert Wednesday, March 11, at 7:30 p.m. Scheduled in Pottle Music Auditorium, the free concert will feature international violin soloist and founding member of the multiple Grammy® award-winning Emerson String Quartet, Eugene Drucker.
Led by Associate Professor of Violin and Orchestra Director Victor Correa Cruz, the orchestra will accompany Drucker as he performs violin concertos by Bach and Haydn. The orchestra will present works by Corelli, Mozart and Grieg as well. Drucker will also offer a masterclass on campus Tuesday, March 10, at 10:30 a.m. in Pottle Music Auditorium.
“We are all very excited to have a major figure like Mr. Drucker on campus, sharing his expertise with the students and faculty through masterclasses, rehearsals, and his final performance on March 11,” Cruz said.
Drucker has appeared with the orchestras of Montreal, Brussels, Antwerp, Liège, Hartford, Richmond, Louisville, and Jerusalem, as well as with the American Symphony Orchestra, the Aspen Chamber Symphony, the Las Vegas Philharmonic, and the Westchester Philharmonic. A graduate of Columbia University and the Juilliard School, where he studied with Oscar Shumsky, Drucker was concertmaster of the Juilliard Orchestra, with which he appeared as a soloist several times.
