Alpha Sigma Tau’s Phi Chapter at Southeastern Louisiana University was recently recognized by the national organization for demonstrating excellence within the 2024-2026 biennium. Awards were announced at Alpha Sigma Tau’s 46th National Convention in Minneapolis last month.
The Phi Chapter was recognized with the Founders Award, the Edward Jervey/Martha DeCamp Award, the Growth Excellence Award, the Health and Safety Excellence Award, the Retention Excellence Award, the Campus Citizenship Excellence Award, and the Sisterhood Excellence Award.
The Founders Award honors a chapter that exhibits excellence in multiple facets of sorority, campus, and community life – it is the highest honor a chapter can receive. The Edward Jervey/Martha DeCamp Award honors a chapter that has exhibited in all its actions the highest adherence to the ideals and integrity of Alpha Sigma Tau as set forth in their creed. The Chapter Branding Excellence: Marketing and Communications Award is presented to chapters exhibiting the best use of social media, website content, and additional marketing mediums to promote their chapter and the sorority experience.
The Growth Excellence Award is presented to chapters exhibiting a culture of excellence and commitment to membership recruitment, while the Health and Safety Excellence Award is presented to chapters exhibiting an outstanding commitment to risk prevention, education, and management. The Retention Excellence Award is presented to chapters exhibiting a culture of excellence and commitment to membership retention. The Campus Citizenship Excellence Award is presented to chapters demonstrating active engagement in their campus and Panhellenic communities, and the Sisterhood Excellence Award is presented to chapters successfully cultivating healthy interpersonal relationships between members.
“The Phi Chapter continues to push for excellence in a number of areas by working closely as a team and utilizing all of their resources. The chapter has cultivated a sisterhood environment that allows each member to feel valued, supported, and empowered,” said Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority Director of Communications and Engagement Justina Solties. “From Panhellenic engagement to campus involvement to strengthening their bonds of sisterhood to dedicated philanthropic endeavors, the Phi Chapter has put in consistent effort to make themselves one of the strongest collegiate chapters within our sisterhood, all while meeting or exceeding almost every national organization expectation.”
The Phi Chapter was the only collegiate chapter to receive the Edward Jervey/Martha DeCamp Award and one of only three chapters to receive the Founders Award at the 46thNational Convention. It is the second consecutive convention the chapter has been awarded the Founders Award.
Also of note, Chapter Advisor and Phi Chapter alumna Rita Bertolino was awarded the Carrie W. Staehle Award, which honors an initiated Chapter Advisory Board member for exceptional service to their chapter and to the sorority.
