Three Washington Parish High School football teams won their playoff games Friday night and will now move into the next round.
Winning and moving forward are Bowling Green School, Pine High School, and Bogalusa High School.
Varnado High School lost Friday night, while Ben's Ford School lost on November 3 in an earlier round, and Franklinton High School did not make the playoffs this year.
---Pine overcame a slow start to come alive in the 2nd half and overwhelm Red River, 38-16. The Raiders are now 9-2 and are in the best season in Pine High School's football history. They will play again Friday in the 2nd round of the playoffs. Pine will play at Avoyelles, which is located in Moreauville, which is about a 2 hour and 45 minute drive west of Pine. Avoyelles is 4-7 on the 2023 season. Avoyelles advanced to the second round with a 28-22 win over Kinder.
---Bogalusa took a big 42-7 win over Westlake. The Lumberjacks are now 6-4 on the 2023 season and they will move into the 2nd round Friday against Loreauville. The game will be played at Bogalusa.
---Bowling Green School defeated Winston Academy, 42-13, in the MAIS semi-finals. Now 9-3 and peaking at just the right time, Bowling Green moves into the finals this week. The Buccaneers will face Tri-County Academy Friday for the MAIS 4A state championship. The game will be played at 3 pm Friday (Nov. 17) at Jackson Academy in Jackson, Mississippi. Tri-County is 11-1 and defeated Centerville Academy 45-0 in the semi-finals.
---Varnado fell to White Castle, 52-0, ending their season at 3-8.
