The coaches of district 8-4A have selected their All District football team for 2023. The Franklinton Demons are solidly represented with four first team selections and four second team selections.
Selected to the first team offense for the Demons were junior quarterback Conner Magee, selected as athlete, junior receiver Michael Brock and senior lineman Kevion Ginn. Selected to the first team defense was Rickken Burkhalter, a senior defensive back.
Selected to the second team offense were senior back Rayshone Manuel, sophomore tight end Dalton Freeman and junior lineman Beau Webb. Junior DJ Anders was the only second team defensive selection for the Demons.
Quarterback Conner Magee rushed for 855 yards most of which came after he was moved from receiver to quarterback beginning in game six of the season. "I feel that had we played any defense at all this year, Connor would have been our district MVP. He is an electric player and his ability to lead our offense was remarkable considering the move to QB was made mid-season. He is extremely dynamic." Said Franklinton Coach Nick Saltaformaggio about Magee.
Coach Salt also shared his thoughts on other FHS All District selections. "Michael Brock really became the explosive outside player on offense that we felt he could become early in camp. He is still learning the position and is another player that benefited from the change in offensive scheme."
"Kevion Ginn is the type of offensive lineman that coaches dream of coaching. He is smart, great work ethic and highly competitive. He was our unquestioned leader on our team."
"Rayshone Manuel was the quintessential grinder. He made plays whenever we needed them. Tough inside runner with just enough burst to get the big play."
"Rickken Burkhalter was the lone bright spot on a defense that struggled all year. He has excellent football instincts and got better every game. He is what a lock down corner plays like. He is also an excellent student.”
Salmen Coach Eric Chuter was named Coach of the Year for the district while back Jacobi Jefferson and Damon Narcisse, both senior players at Salmen, were named offensive and defensive MVPs, respectively.
