The coaches of District 7-3A which is made up of Amite, Albany, Bogalusa, Pine and Sumner, have released their 2023 All District football team selections. The Pine Raiders were well represented on the team with five first team offensive selections, three defensive selections as well as one special teams selection.
Selected to the First Team All District Offense were senior back James Owens, junior receiver DJ Garrett, linemen Jackson Jones and Cale Temples and junior tight end Zach Thomas.
First team defense selections for the Raiders were defensive lineman Tre Magee, linebacker Ethan Ryals, defensive back DJ Garrett and kicker AJ Warren.
Second team offensive selections were backs Von Johnson and Aiden McIntosh, quarterback Luke Spears and lineman Tre Magee.
Second team defensive selections were defensive back Lyrian Hart, defensive lineman Zack Thomas, linebacker Chris Williams, linebacker Caydn Stogner, linebacker Ethan Rester and defensive back Thomas Bernard.
Honorable Mentions for the Raiders were lineman Cayden Woodward, lineman John Robert Durham, receiver Preston Stogner, defensive back James Owens and punter Will Shook.
Pine Coach Bradley Seal said his players were deserving and among good company. "I'm very happy for our players that got all district. It was well deserved and an accomplishment getting all district in our district. There are a lot of good players and four teams were in the state top nine in power points as well as three teams making the state quarterfinals."
Not surprisingly, quarterback Aston Levi of Bogalusa was named District 7-3A Offensive MVP and Amite's Christian Smith, was named District 7=3A Defensive MVP. Zephaniah Powell was named District 7-3A coach of the year after Amite won the district.
