Bowling Green was off last week and again this week, but the Bucs are preparing to open MAIS playoff action next Friday, November 3, at home.
Playoff brackets for all MAIS football classifications have been released and Bowling Green earned the #2 seed in Class 4A. With the second highest ranking comes a first-round bye and home field advantage throughout the playoffs as long as the Bucs advance. All state championship games in Classes 1A-5A will be held at Jackson Academy in Jackson, Mississippi.
The Buccaneers will host the winner of Lee Academy (#7) and Wayne Academy (#10) on Friday, November 3 at W.E. "Buck" Hellen Stadium. First year head coach Jason Johnson's 2023 Bowling Green squad captured the Class 4A District 3 championship by winning all four district games and finishing with an overall 7-3 record. All three losses came against Class 5A teams that all made the playoffs.
Playoff game information: The MAIS sets admission prices to all postseason games. The cost to enter is $10 per person. Buc Passes for students are not valid for playoff games. Reserved parking spots purchased with BGS tailgate packages for regular season games will be honored for playoff games, but entry fee is not included.
