The Franklinton Junior High Falcons football team soundly defeated the Mt Hermon Yellow Jackets last Tuesday in Demon Stadium, 28-6. The Falcons will have an open date next week due to the Washington Parish Free Fair.
The Falcons used a nice, lengthy drive to open the game and the scoring as Matthew Harding went in from three yards out with just :35 left in the first quarter. The extra point kick was good and the Falcons were up 7-0.
After a Mt Hermon punt the Falcons again put together a nice drive and scored with 5:17 left in the second as quarterback Rhett Anderson went twenty nine yards around the left side for the touchdown and the 14-0 score. The Falcons pushed their lead to 21-0 late in the first half as Steven Tate scored on a nineteen yard run that would end the scoring for the first half.
In the third period the Falcons scored on their first possession as Steven Tate scored again, this time on a 47 yard run to put the Falcons up 28-0 late in the third period.
Coach Andy Creel began playing his reserves and the Yellow Jackets scored on the final play of the game to put themselves on the scoreboard at 28-6, which would be the final.
Steven Tate was the leading rusher for the Falcons with 99 yards and two touchdowns on five carries, Rhett Anderson had 80 yards and a touchdown on just three carries, Matthew Harding had five carries for 26 yards and a touchdown, Osean Warren had one carry for 26 yards and Khaleel Wilson had one carry for 20 yards.
