UPDATE
State Police have charged Darnelle Leblanc with DWI and Vehicular Homicide, as well as other charges, in connection with a Monday accident on Highway 10 that killed a Mount Hermon man.
The accident occurred about mid-day Monday.
64-year old Bryan Schneider was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
It occurred on Highway 10 near Highway 62 at Sheridan shortly before 11:00 a.m..
State police said Schneider was traveling east toward Bogalusa in a 2009 Toyota.
A 2010 Chevrolet Suburban traveling west toward Franklinton crossed the center line, state police said, and impacted Schneider’s car head-on.
Schneider was killed and the driver of the Suburban, Darnelle Leblanc of the Folsom area, suffered moderate injuries.
State police said it was unclear at the accident scene why Leblanc crossed the center line, but following an investigation and an analysis of blood content, they determined that DWI and Vehicular Homicide charges were warranted. Leblanc was arrested on Wednesday after being discharged from the hospital.
