In 2024, the YMCA of Bogalusa, in partnership with TRCG and with vital community support, launched the inaugural May 4th Family STEAM Event at the Washington Parish Fairgrounds. This initiative engaged over 300 participants, demonstrating an apparent community demand for enhanced STEAM education opportunities.
The measurable impact of this event, driven by the generosity of our donors, included the provision of transformative STEAM summer camps in collaboration with Franklinton High School and the acquisition of essential resources for a subsequent STEAM event at the Washington Parish Free Fair. These outcomes represent tangible progress in expanding access to quality educational programming.
Building upon this foundation with the second annual Family STEAM Event, our 2025 vision is to establish a sustainable, systemic integration of STEAM education throughout Washington Parish. This strategic expansion will encompass local school systems, community centers, and after-school programs, ensuring equitable access and long-term impact. While the 2024 event demonstrated initial success, our commitment to continuous improvement and expanded reach is unwavering.
