The swearing-in of Darwin Sharp as Franklinton Mayor will take place at 11 a.m. this Friday (Dec. 20) at the Franklinton Fire Department on 11th Avenue.
The five members of the Board of Aldermen will also be sworn in for their 4-year terms during the same ceremony.
Sharp defeated current Mayor Greg Route in the November election by 11 votes.
The five Aldermen to be sworn in include incumbents TJ Butler Jr., Seth Descant, and Patrice Crain.
Two newcomers will be sworn in to join the Board of Aldermen. They are Randy Reed and Lee Dillon.
The five Aldermen who will be sworn in were the top five candidates in a special election held on December 7. The election for aldermen was delayed following the October 6 death of candidate Frankie Crosby. State law requires an election to be rescheduled and filing to be re-opened in the even of a candidate death close to the election date.
All Franklinton residents are invited to attend the swearing-in ceremony for the new Mayor and the Aldermen. Following the swearing-in ceremony, a jambalaya lunch will be served.
