(Editor’s note: Parish Public Works Director Alex Sumrall read this tribute to Terry Morgan at the recent Parish Council meeting. Mrs. Morgan passed away in December after a 16-year battle against cancer. She was well known in Franklinton as Wayne Kuhn’s long-time legal secretary and later as the administrative assistant to former Parish President Richard N. Thomas.)

What can I say about our dear friend Terry Morgan that we all don't know? I remember seeing Terry at Wayne Kuhn's office a couple of weeks before she came to work as former Parish President's Richard Thomas's administrative assistant. The smile and excitement that she showed was priceless. There is no way to actually show or say how much Terry meant to me. I have never seen a person as positive as she, and I would like to think my old friend Wayne Kuhn had a lot to do with that after working together for 25 years.
In life, I have been around long enough to know that true friends can be counted on one hand, maybe. I could definitely count Terry as my true friend. I have sat in her office and laughed and many days cried about my dad and what I was going through with his battling lung cancer. I often thought, "What a strong person." I was talking to her and she also had cancer. She was trying to talk to me to make me feel better! There is no price tag on that kind of friendship. She was a caring and giving person who was selfless and always thinking of others.
We can all learn something from Terry and her life --- how to treat people, how to be positive, and how to fight when the cards are against you. No matter what her condition was, she would always say "bring it on."
When my dad passed away, my daughter read a scripture from 2 Timothy that seems fitting for times like this: "I have fought the good fight; I have finished the race."
Terry fought her fight and finished her race. She will be forever missed until we see her again. I offer my sincere condolences to her family.
