There was plenty of concern expressed after the trees lining the front of the Washington Parish Courthouse were cut down last year by the state Department of Transportation and Development. DOTD said the trees were a potential hazard to passing motorists because branches could fall. But since then, the front yard of the Courthouse has taken on an improved look, with a new sidewalk and new trees and shrubs being planted. While some folks did not expect the Courthouse grounds to look this good following the cutting of the trees, most people would probably express satisfaction with the new look.
