As the United States Postal Service marked its 250th birthday, local officials were at the Franklinton Post Office to help mark the occasion. From left to right are Acting Franklinton Postmaster Amy Bankston, Parish President Ryan Seal, Franklinton Mayor Darwin Sharp, Acting Postal Supervisor Sandra Kennedy, and Parish Councilman Stephen Branch. The United States Post Office was founded by Benjamin Franklin 250 years ago, in 1775, with the mission of providing a reliable form of communication for the 13 colonies that would soon become the United States of America.
