Tuesday of last week at approximately 5:30 PM, the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office received a distress call regarding a disturbance on Highway 438 in the Hackley area.
Deputy Dillon Kent was dispatched to the scene in response to reports of a man identified as Derion Clark, exhibiting concerning behavior and allegedly wielding a sharp object, consequently resulting in a severe injury.
Upon arrival, Deputy Kent encountered a chaotic scene, with reports indicating that Derion Clark had allegedly cut his brother with an unidentified object. The victim was attended to by emergency medical personnel and then transported to Lakeview Regional Medical Center for evaluation due to the severity of his injuries.
According to eyewitness accounts given to deputies, the altercation ensued following a heated argument between Clark and his brother It was reported that the suspect, in a fit of rage, engaged in physical confrontation with his brother which ultimately resulted in a significant laceration to the brother’s neck.
Due to the seriousness of the incident and the injuries inflicted upon the victim, Derion Clark has been charged with attempted second-degree murder. Additionally, Clark faces charges of felony domestic abuse battery because he allegedly also assaulted his mother during the altercation.
Bond for Clark has been set at $100,000 on both the attempted murder and felony domestic battery charges. As of presstime early this week he remained in the Washington Parish Jail.
