Early voting for the November 18 run-off election begins this Friday. A debate for candidates for Sheriff and Parish President is set for this Thursday (Nov. 2),
Hosted by the Republican Women of Franklinton, the debate will be held in the upstairs courtroom of the Washington Parish Courthouse in Franklinton. It is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. and there is plenty of seating available in the courtroom.
Scheduled to particpate in the debate are Sheriff candidates Randy Seal and Jason Smith. Also participating will be Parish President candidates Ryan Seal and Malinda White.
Randy Seal and Jason Smith were the top vote getters in the October 14 Sheriff’s race, advancing to the run-off, and Ryan Seal and Malinda White were the top vote-getters in the Parish President’s race, also advancing to the run-off.
In addition to the four candidates participating in the debate, John Wyble and Kelvin May were top vote-getters in the 75th District State Representative’s race and Reginald McMasters and Dwayne Magee were the top voter-getters in the Parish Council District 6 race.
For most voters there are 6 Washington Parish candidates on their Nov. 18 ballot: 2 for Sheriff, 2 for Parish President, and 2 for State Representative. But voters in Parish Council District 6 will also have the Parish Council run-off on their ballots.
In addition to the Washington Parish candidates, all ballots will have statewide runoffs for Secretary of State, Treasurer, and Attorney General. And voters in Fire District 9 will see two tax propositions on their ballots.
Early voting is from Nov. 3 through Nov. 11, except for Sunday, Nov. 5 and also except for Friday, Nov. 10, which is when Veterans Day will be observed locally.
Early voting will be conducted at the Registrar of Voter’s office in the Courthouse and at Sullivan Technical College in Bogalusa from 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. each day. On Election Day, Saturday, Nov. 18, polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
