The Civic League, established in 1946, is an organization made up of women who want to donate time and money to Non-profit organizations that exist in the Parish. Their volunteer duties include library activities, blood pressure checks for the Council on Aging, and selling posters at the Washington Parish Free Fair.
Recently they had a booth at the Senior Citizen Picnic at Cassidy Park in Bogalusa. They gave out pamphlets on Blood Pressure, pens, tablets, and candy. Additionally, they donated a gift basket which was part of a raffle which was held later that day.
Many years ago, a group of women came together and decided to make their community and Parish better by doing volunteer work and donating money to deserving organizations. The membership was and is still dedicated to those same goals.
A prospective member must apply and be voted in as a new member. As an active member the woman must volunteer for at least 50 hours a year for the first three years. The third and fourth year the requirement is lowered to 35 hours. In addition, she must pay dues, and participate on at least one committee. She is considered to be active for a period of five years.
Once she is no longer active, she will still be required to pay dues, but not required to volunteer.
At the present time the Civic League has approximately 100 members and 24 of them are considered active. The current officers are:

Yearly the members have two events in order to raise the money which will be donated to various organizations voted on by the membership.
