With a heated run-off election just ten days away, Washington Parish run-off candidates are busy this week looking for every possible vote.
Only a few days of early voting remain, so voters in the parish who want to vote early need to get moving. Early voting ends Saturday (Nov. 11). There will be no early voting on Friday, due to Veterans Day being observed. Early voting takes place from 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m., at the courthouse in Franklinton and at Sullivan Technical College in Bogalusa.
Candidates for Sheriff and Parish President appeared at a debate last Thursday at the courthouse.
Randy Seal and Jason Smith, run-off opponents in the race for Sheriff, and Malinda White and Ryan Seal, run-off opponents for Parish President, all participated in the debate, which took place in the upstairs courtroom in front of a large crowd. The event was sponsored by the Franklinton Republican Womens organization.
In addition to the candidates for Sheriff and Parish President, there will be two more run-off races on local ballots: 75th District State Representative and Parish Council Member for District 6.
John Wyble and Kelvin May are the run-off candidates for State Representative. Reginald McMasters and Dwayne Magee are the run-off candidates in the District 6 Parish Council seat. Only voters residing in Parish Council District 6 will vote in that race.
There are also statewide run-offs on the ballot for Treasurer, Attorney General, and Secretary of State.
Finally, there are two local tax propositions in Fire District 9, to be voted on only by residents of Fire District 9.
