Skylar Branch daughter of Trey and Amy Branch of Franklinton and granddaughter of McCauley and Sharon Sheridan of Bogalusa, Richard and Kay McElveen of Franklinton, and Will and Ruth Branch of Bogalusa has returned from Barcelona. Skylar is an upcoming senior at Franklinton High School who traveled to Barcelona, Spain with the USA America's Softball Team.
To say that Skylar had a spectacular trip to Barcelona, Spain would be an understatement. Skylar was chosen to play the position as a pitcher, third base, and hitter for the team. Skylar's team went 6-0, undefeated throughout the tournament, scoring 67 runs and only allowing 16.
Skylar pitched a shutout in the championship game and USA brought home a gold medal.
The girls on the team played on the Olympic Field in Barcelona. They were coached by Coach Shawna Juarez, head coach of Carroll College in Helena, Montana. These girls formed friendships that will last a lifetime. They were able to experience the cultures of a foreign country and enjoy all the sights of Barcelona, Spain.
