The Franklinton Demons lost a tight game to the Loranger Wolves last Monday evening at Demon Diamond, 3-2 in a district matchup.
The Wolves scored two runs in the top of the first to go ahead early, 2-0. The Demons cut that lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the first as Banyan Penton drew a base on balls, stole second and scored when Elisha Hart singled.
The Wolves added another in the third inning on a single and a double before the Demons also added a run in the third as Banyan Penton led off with a triple and scored when Hart reached on an error.
The Demons threatened in the fifth as Micah Wascom lead off with a triple but was thrown out at home on a fielder's choice when Will Turner hit a grounder to third.
The Demons put two more on in the sixth but again couldn't score them. Still down 3-2 in the seventh the Demons put a runner on but couldn't push him across and fell 3-2.
Dillon Pace pitched a complete game striking out nine, walking none and spacing out seven hits over the game.
Elisha Hart led the Demons with two singles offensively while Micah Wascom and Banyan Penton each had a triple. Cade Phillips, Dillon Pace, Da'Ron Sinceno and Rickken Burkhalter each had a single.
The Demons will host the Sumner Cowboys in a non district game on Friday April 14 and will go to Sumner on April 15.
