Dr. Jerry Thomas, who has been practicing medicine in Washington Parish for 44 years, is retiring.
He and his family are hosting a retirement party at his home in the Thomas Community this Saturday from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.
He said the retirement party will be a time to share stories and memories, and to celebrate the future of the Thomas Community Health Center, where he has practiced for many years, in addition to Riverside Medical Center in Franklinton. In fact, Thomas was actually the founder of the Thomas Health Center.
Thomas was not only a doctor during his career. He also spent 24 years in elective office in the parish, serving as Coroner, State Representative, and State Senator.
