A rural Franklinton man was arrested last Friday on charges that he assaulted a woman at his residence on Highway 25 north.
Jaspen Antonio Robinson, 31, was picked up in New Orleans by Louisiana State Police troopers and deputy U.S. Marshals on a warrant drawn by the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Robinson is charged with choking the woman and striking her face with a closed fist on Wednesday of last week. He also fired gunshots, deputies reported, resulting in him also being charged with aggravated assault with a firearm.
The woman escaped and called 911. Robinson had fled the residence by the time deputies arrived. Deputies who met with the assaulted woman a short distance away from the residence had her and her children taken to Riverside Medical Center.
Because the woman’s children were with her at the time of the assault, Robinson has also been charged with child endangerment.
He was being held without bond at the Washington Parish Jail at presstime Monday.

Sheriff Randy Seal expressed appreciation to his deputies, as well as to the state troopers and deputy U.S. Marshals who arrested Robinson in New Orleans.
