Jason Smith, the newly sworn-in sheriff of Washington Parish, has appointed his top departmental leadership. Smith has also divided the parish into five patrol districts in order to improve law enforcement efficiency and response time.
The new chief criminal deputy, the #2 of the department, is Fred Oswald.
Ciji Marks will be the new chief civil deputy, the #3 of the department.
Other WPSO leaders include Kyle Varnado as Chief of Corrections and Barry Cooper as Jail Warden.
Sheriff Smith has divided the parish into five patrol districts, with a captain overseeing each of the five districts.
The district chiefs are:
•District 1, Captain Kevin Bond.
•District 2, Captain Terry Harris.
•District 3, Captain Chris Hickman.
•District 4, Captain Raymond Meyers.
•District 5, Captain Chad Cassard.
The five districts will be centered roughly on these areas: Mount Hermon, Angie, Bogalusa, Enon, and Plainview.
