Magic City Post 24 of the American Legion invite you to attend our commemoration of those who stood tall on the occasion labeled by President Franklin Roosevelt as "a date that will live in infamy."
Our program will be coordinated by Reverend Paul Scorse, himself a war veteran, and will begin at 8:00 am on December 7th, an hour that corresponds with the explosion of the first bomb.
Colors will be posted by men who sacrificed to keep our flag and freedom alive, and the hot breakfast prepared by gray haired chefs will follow. (Our ladies, bless their hearts, also take part in the cooking.) The program will be concise but deeply meaningful.
President Roosevelt's address to Congress the following day was characteristically calm and poignant, and he hit the mark with his benediction: "We will gain the inevitable triumph, so help us God."
Three years and seven months later, on September 2nd, 1945, four months after his death in April of that year, his reassurance was validated.
Our flag still flies. Lest we forget, Lest we forget.
