Melvin Lowe Jr., a 45 year old man from Franklinton, has been arrested for Attempted 2nd Degree Murder.
Lowe was arrested following an overdose investigation conducted by Sgt. Trey Johnson of the Franklinton Police Department. Sgt. Johnson determined that Melvin Lowe Jr. allegedly sold heroin to an individual who subsequently overdosed on the illegal drug.
Louisiana law includes the sale of illegal narcotics which results in the death of another individual under 2nd Degree Murder. In this instance, the drug user survived the overdose so the charge filed against Lowe is Attempted 2nd Degree Murd
Lowe was transported to the Washington Parish Jail where he will remain, pending bond.
