Early voting for the March 23 election will continue through this Saturday, March 16.
Early voting will be held at the Courthouse in Franklinton and at Sullivan Tech in Bogalusa from 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. Voters are reminded to bring a photo ID not just for early voting but also for voting on Election Day.
On Saturday, March 23, polling places will be open from 7 a.m. ‘til 8 p.m.
The election was originally a presidential preference primary. But with the death of District Attorney Warren Montgomery, it also became an election for a new District Attorney.
Collin Sims, the Interim District Attorney, and Vincent Wynne are seeking the DA’s office in the March 23 election. Both are from Covington.
The presidential primary election for both Republicans and Democrats contains many candidates, but for both parties the 2024 presidential race has narrowed down to President Joe Biden, Democrat, and former President Donald Trump, Republican. These two are widely expected to sweep the Louisiana presidential primary on March 23.
