The Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate an incident that caused a lockdown at Mount Hermon School on Wednesday of this week.
Bullets were found outside the cafeteria of the school, and as a precaution school officials immediately ordered a lockdown.
The sheriff’s office was notified and deputies responded, searching the entire campus of MHS to make certain no additional bullets and no firearms were present.
Following the search, the lockdown was lifted and the school returned to normal status.
School officials notified the Washington Parish School System central office of the situation, and a message was sent to the parents of MHS students.
The sheriff’s office is attempting to identify where the bullets came from and how and why they ended up at MHS.
