A special election has been set to fill the vacant District Attorney position for Washington and St. Tammany Parishes.
Warren Montgomery, 22nd Judicial District Attorney since 2015, passed away recently after a long battle with cancer.
The special election is set for March 23, 2024, which will also be the 2024 Presidential Primary election. A run-off for District Attorney, if needed, will be held on April 27, 2024.
Collin Sims, first assistant district attorney, is now serving as interim District Attorney until a new one is elected and sworn in.
