Fall is only a few days away. Fall actually arrives this Saturday, September 23.
Two sure signs of Fall in Washington Parish are cooler temperatures and final preparations for the Washington Parish Fair.
After a summer to remember (or forget?) cooler temperatures returned to the parish this week, with a very nice temperature of 62 degrees in Franklinton early Monday morning of this week. It will still get hot during the days for a while, but everyone is hoping that the scorching temperatures that burned the parish in August and early September are now gone.
As for signs of the Fair approaching: The annual Fair Flag Raising ceremony will be held next week.
In Franklinton, the ceremony will be held in front of the courthouse on Friday, September 29 at 10 a.m. It’s a great way to usher Fair season into the parish, so attend if at all possible. A similar ceremony will be held in Bogalusa on October 4 at 10 a.m. in front of Bogalusa City Hall.
