Todd Edwards, longtime manager of the Franklinton Winn-Dixie store, died this past Tuesday while working at his home in Stony Point. He apparently suffered a medical emergency while doing tractor work.
Edwards, 56, worked for Winn-Dixie for more than 30 years and succeeded longtime manager Dickie Dillon at the Franklinton store. He was a constant presence in the supermarket, greeting customers, assisting employees and, in many cases, actually stocking shelves himself.
One Winn-Dixie employee remarked this week that, "Todd was larger than life here. He was really the face of Winn-Dixie in Franklinton."
Edwards was also a big sports fan, and he avidly followed the sports teams that his sons, Jaron and Braden, played on.
Edwards graduated from Franklinton High School in 1984.
In addition to his work in the store, Edwards also devoted time to Stony Point Missionary Baptist Church, where he had served as church treasurer and was a regular attendee of services. It was at Stony Point Missionary Baptist Church that funeral services for Edwards were held on Saturday, July 1.
Obituary information will appear in the July 5 edition of The Era-Leader.
