Tress fell and numerous branches were scattered around lawns on and some roads in Wednesday's storm, but overall it appeared that Washington Parish dodged a bullet. This was especially true compared to nearby Slidell, which suffered plenty of damage from high winds and possible tornadoes. Some Washington Parish residents reported power outages and crews from Washington-St. Tammany Electric Co-op were working throughout the day to restore electricity.

Students in the Washington Parish School System will have virtual classes from home on Wednesday (April 10) because of predicted severe weather.
Washington Parish is under a threat of high winds and heavy rainfall on Wednesday. The tornado threat is elevated. So school officials decided to play it safe and not have students in classes and on school buses Wednesday. However, all students do need to connect with their class/classes virtually.
According to the National Weather Service, possible thunderstorms will begin in the parish Wednesday morning and possible severe storms and heavy rainfall will occur from about noon Wednesday until early Wednesday evening. High winds are also likely at times during Wednesday.
There is also a threat of tornado activity Wednesday. Officials are urging residents to remain aware of the severe weather all day Wednesday.
