Concerns about a new metal recycling business in Franklinton have apparently lessened in recent weeks as the owners of the business have started implementing their plan to improve the view of the facility.
Franklinton Metal Recycling is located along Lee Street, just south of downtown Franklinton. Late last year, as scrap metal began accumulating on the site some Franklinton residents expressed worries about the junky views that were so obvious to anyone driving on Lee Street.
But the owners/managers of the business told Franklinton elected officials that an 8-foot metal fence was to be constructed on the site, blocking the views of the scrap metal.
And in recent weeks work has started at the site. A dirt platform for the fence is being constructed, and once it is ready the metal fence itself will be built.
The owners of the business have expressed confidence that once the fence (really, it’s a wall) is finished, it will be difficult to see the scrap metal on the site.
