UPDATE: Although some areas of Washington Parish did receive a slight amount of rainfall Sunday afternoon, it will take a sustained rainfall or rainfalls to reverse the dry conditions currently affecting the parish. So the burn ban remains in effect.

Because of dry conditions and lack of rainfall, a burn ban has been ordered for all of Washington Parish.
Parish President Ryan Seal issued the burn ban Friday afternoon.
The ban will remain in effect for 30 days or until sufficient rainfall eliminates the fire risk.
All outdoor burning in the parish is prohibited during the period of the burn ban.
Anyone who has questions about the burn ban or needs more information can check with any of the parish's fire departments.
Washington Parish has suffered some major outdoors fires in recent years, and officials are urging all residents to heed the burn ban in the interest of safety.
