Governor Jeff Landry hosted a special event featuring Republican Women from the seven regions around the state. The visit with the Governor included lunch and a tour of the ground floor. This event aimed to foster community engagement around the state which will include future meetings held in each region.
Joannie Miller of Washington Parish, who is the Louisiana Federation of Republican Women (LFRW) Region 7 Vice President, was invited to attend the luncheon hosted by the Governor and First Lady Sharon Landry. A delightful luncheon was served in the dining room where many celebrations and events have been held and served on the 23-foot mahogany table that comfortably seats 24 with complimentary chairs.
The Governor shared his desire to meet with the grass roots of the Republican party around the state annually. Discussions were held about the different regions and possible locations for the future gatherings.
After lunch guests were treated to a tour and photos with the Governor and First Lady. The most popular feature of the tour was the Mural covering all four walls of the foyer representing the flora, fauna, and a varied landscape of LA representing the different Governors that have been in residence. The mural was painted in 2000 by the famous American Artist, Auseklis Ozols, born in Latvia but thrilled to be here in the heart of LA.
Previous visits to the capital by Joanie Miller included the 2025 LFRW Fall Board Meeting and Membership Conference held April 4 - 5, 2025, at the Baton Rouge Marriott, and a Day at the Legislator on April 30, 2025 with breakfast at the Pentagon hosted by Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser.
