Services for Willie F. Cooper were held at 3:00 p.m.. Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Calvary Baptist Church, Alexandria, with Reverend Todd Strain and Dr. B. David Brooks officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Memorial Park, Pineville, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria.
The family requested that visitation be held on Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Calvary Baptist Church, Alexandria, from 12:00 p.m. until the service time.
Pallbearers were Brian Bain, Robert Bradley, Grant Cooper, Lane Cooper, Ron Heard, Gerard Labbe', Jay McCalmont, and Warren Morris.
Honorary pallbearers were Johnnie LaFleur, Bill Lurry, Aubrey Sanders, and George Williams.
Mr. Cooper, 90, of Pineville, passed from this life on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at his residence.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he was a deacon and served on numerous committees including the delegation that called Pastor John Alley and Dr. Brooks to the church, as well as the group that relocated the church from Bolton Avenue to its current location on Jackson Street.
Mr. Cooper graduated with a degree in agriculture from Southeastern Louisiana University and proudly served his country in the National Guard for six years. He retired after 56 years with the U.S. Department of Agriculture where he served as the Farm Service Agency State Executive Director for 42 years. During his tenure, he served under eight presidents and 13 Secretaries of Agriculture. Mr. Cooper earned dozens of honors including Progressive Farmer's Man of the Year and Louisiana Farm Bureau's Distinguished Service Award. He was also a member of the Lions Club and held a lifetime membership in the Louisiana Lions League for Crippled Children.
Of all of his accomplishments, he was most proud of worshiping alongside his family at Calvary and of his five beloved grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Clifton and Ruth Mae Thomas Cooper; brother, Clyde Everett Cooper, and sister, Marcell C. Graves.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jeanette Cooper; sons, Chet Cooper and wife, Robbyn, and Clay Cooper and wife, Jennifer; grandchildren, Grant Cooper, Erin Cooper, Lauren Cooper, Lane Cooper, and Emerson Cooper, and sister, Vondell C. Pierce.
